Rehabilitation Counselor
Minnesota Sex Offender Program
Moose Lake, MN
Up to $57,065 annually
Full-time opportunity, working Monday - Friday!
The MN Sex Offender Program (MSOP) provides services to individuals civilly committed as Sexual Psychopathic Personalities or Sexually Dangerous Persons. Clients committed to MSOP acquire skills through active participation in group therapy and are provided opportunities to demonstrate meaningful change through participation in rehabilitative services, including education classes, therapeutic recreational activities and vocational work program assignments. By integrating clinical, vocational, recreation, education, and security functions into effective multidisciplinary teams, MSOP focuses their wide array of program activities throughout all phases of treatment toward the ultimate goal of reintegration.
Job Description:
Provide Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling services to clients at MSOP. Design, coordinate, and deliver vocational programming that meets client needs. Prepare required documentation and reports, including vocational assessments and treatment plans. Perform related duties as assigned in the areas of admissions and reintegration, program development, scheduling, supervision of client activities, and/or involvement in policy drafting teams or special work groups. Participate as an active member of the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong communication skills, respect, professional ethics and a spirit of collaboration.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or closely related field (e.g., Rehabilitation Teaching, Counseling and Guidance, Therapeutic Recreation) is required.
  • Applicants must have two years of professional-level experience providing teaching, counseling, behavioral management and/or rehabilitation (physical, occupational, and/or recreational therapies) services to mentally ill and dangerous or adjudicated sex offender populations.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience working with sex offenders; experience in writing vocational evaluations; or individual counseling experience. A relevant master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF REHABILITATION EDUCATION FACULTY POSITION
Emporia State University

Department of Psychology, Art Therapy, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling
POSITION: Rehabilitation Counselor Educator (Assistant/Associate Professor) nine-month tenure-track position in the Department of Psychology, Art Therapy, Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at Emporia State University. Position emphasizes teaching and development of effective practitioners.
DEADLINE: Screening will begin on April 5th and continue until the position is filled.
STARTING DATE: August 11, 2010
DUTIES:
  1. Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in rehabilitation.
    • Courses likely to be taught: Introduction to Group Procedures, Helping Relationships, Survey of Disabling Conditions, Survey of Mental and Psychological Conditions, Introduction to Addictions, Foundations of Rehabilitation, and Internship.
    • Adjustments can be made based on prior experience teaching these or other courses to ease transition.
    • Summer teaching available, if desired.
  2. Supervise student field experiences.
  3. Develop and deliver traditional and online instruction.
  4. Advise students seeking bachelors or masters degrees in rehabilitation.
  5. Scholarly activity and service.
  6. Perform other duties and responsibilities normally associated with tenure-track appointment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Earned doctorate in rehabilitation preferred, or in a closely related field.
  2. Relevant work experience in rehabilitation or counseling settings.
  3. Demonstrated teaching experience in rehabilitation or counseling.
  4. Proficiency with development and delivery of online instruction preferable.
  5. National certification as a rehabilitation counselor (CRC) or eligibility to acquire this certification.
  6. Licensed professional counselor (LPC) desirable.
  7. Demonstrated record of scholarly activity.
SALARY: Salary is competitive and dependent on individual qualifications.
