Call for Nominations: NRCA Awards



NRCA is pleased to solicit nominations for the following awards:
 

Counselor-of-the-Year

This award honors rehabilitation counselors who have made an outstanding contribution to improve services or more effective use of existing resources and approaches for persons with disabilities.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Nominee must be employed as a full-time counselor working with a caseload of persons with disabilities.
  2. Nominee must be a member of NRCA.
  3. Nominations may be submitted by anyone, but must be endorsed by a NRCA member.
  4. Nominee’s efforts should far exceed standard performance.
  5. Nominee’s accomplishments should be recognized by co-workers, supervisors, and community.
  6. Nominee should exemplify individual achievement in the field of rehabilitation counseling as well as in community activities.
  7. Nominee must be a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).

 

Distinguished Service Award

Established to recognize unusually or significant professional or technical achievement in the field of rehabilitation counseling and services for persons with disabilities on a national basis.

Eligibility Criteria: Nominations include

  1. a rehabilitation counselor who has put into practice a technique or method which has affected rehabilitation practice;
  2. a rehabilitation counselor who has developed a technique useful in the rehabilitation of certain disability groups;
  3. a member of a professional organization whose activity in rehabilitation counseling and services has heightened the interest of that profession or group;
  4. the author of a treatise or study of rehabilitation counseling and services for persons with disabilities;
  5. a person will disabilities whose example has inspired others and has had an effect on rehabilitation counseling and services;
  6. any individual who has made a major contribution to services for the persons with disabilities on a national level.

 

National Citation

Established to recognize meritorious service or significant achievement in the field of rehabilitation on a local, state, regional, or national basis.

Eligibility Criteria: Nominations include

  1. a person who has demonstrated outstanding quality of achievement in rehabilitation counseling and services for persons with disabilities;
  2. a community or organizational leader who has contributed to outstanding services to the Association in areas such as branch development, legislation, membership activities, publications or professional services;
  3. an employer who has shown an outstanding contribution in employment of persons with disabilities;
  4. an individual showing outstanding contributions to persons with disabilities in their community, state, or region.

 

Materials to be submitted:

  • A minimum of 3 letters of recommendation that illustrate how the nominee meets criteria
  • A resume or vita delineating the nominee’s accomplishments

 

Due date: All materials must be received by August 15, 2010.

 
Award Recipients will be honored at the NRCA Training Symposium at the Marriott Renaissance in Oklahoma City, October 28-30, 2010.
